Objective of the project is on the one hand to clarify to which extent agricultural landuse practices influence floodwater discharge and flooding event (including soil and water contamination). The other subject of research is which management practices in agriculture are capable of reducing flood risk, negative impact on the environment and economic damage.

To this purpose the actual level of knowledge about the potentials of non-structural landuse practices to contribute to preventative flooding risk-management will be analysed on inter- and transdisciplinary level. This will lead to generalizable criteria to assess the potential options of action based on which decision support tools and political recommendations can be synthesised.
