Health

Human health is increasingly at risk because of the impact of climate change.

Prolonged heatwaves lead to illnesses, particularly due to the urban heat island effect. This poses a major challenge, especially for the elderly and others with a history of cardiovascular problems.

The aim is to offer a telemedical information and early warning system for patients suffering from cardiovascular diseases and pulmonary function disorders. It is hoped that this would soften the impact of heatwaves and the associated deterioration of air quality in conurbations.

To this end, INKA BB has developed a warning and intervention system for preventive health care and disease management for the urban conurbation of Berlin.
